Physic-Chemical separation


Let’s walk across a visual proof of physical-chemical separation effectiveness. Through water pressurization sludge floates in the surface and clean water is evacuated underneath.

On this particular example, bilogical sludges are driven upwards while clean water, that has already compleated the treatments in the plant, es evacuated. It is noticeable how thick sludges are, getting attached to the blades. Below it, clean water is completely clear.

On this other example, greases are floating while water is driven to the treatment plant for mixing and other treatments. In this case, grease sludges are directly conected to solid container, as they will strenghten at 15ºC.



ELDE Project


CiM Aigua is a member of ELDE Project, studying the technical and economic viability of electrodepuration of industrial waste waters.

El projecte ELDE, en el marc de la convocatòria RIS3CAT 2016 i  el Programa Operatiu FEDER de Catalunya 2014-2020, té com a objectiu principal la selecció dels efluents característics dels tres sectors industrials d’estudi, l’aplicació de les diferents tècniques d’electrodepuració i la selecció de la tecnologia més òptima per a cada sector industrial. En base a aquests estudis es construirà un pilot per tractar l’aigua de la industria paperera amb l’objectiu de validar la tecnologia dins dels procés de producció. També es construirà un pilot “multisector”, més petit i versàtil, que es validarà en els sectors químic i de curtits. Un altre objectiu important del projecte ELDE és la reducció del consum energètic associat a les tècniques d’electrodepuració mitjançant el desenvolupament de nous sistemes de potència d’alta eficiència i la utilització de fonts d’energia renovable. A més d’estudiar la viabilitat tècnica, s’avaluarà també la viabilitat ambiental i econòmica de les tecnologies desenvolupades.

Innovation impact


During the Project for factory’s enhancement there are multiple factors to be aware of. One of them is the increase in wastewater that will take place. In some cases, these waters may present some specificities that make advisable a particular pre-treatment before it’s derivation to the wastewater plant treatment.

In this case, from the food industry, the factory’s new production units created a certain amount of wastewater with a high fat content; unlike the wastewaters treated previously in the plant. That is the reason why a specific pretreatment was designed.

In this particular case, with the aim to prevent the solidification of the fluid, a heat pump for water was installed. With heated water the pipes are maintained at all moment at the necessary temperature. This innovation allows to treat the wastewaters with ease and avoids pipeline obstructions.

A specific buried tank is constructed, with a transitable cover to store those waters for a brief period. It was equipped with a radiant floor in order to keep the temperature where wastewater is liquid.

Finally, a physical-chemical treatment is realized to separate fat. The product is directly sent to a container as is becomes solid at ambient temperature. Clarified water is send to the plant wastewater treatment equipment to be cleaned.

The use of a known technology in a new field can solve specific problems with the right approach. Lateral thinking and a customer service that connect with it’s specific requirements is essential.

Grow and improvement


Our most recent expansion work for a wastewater treatment plant implemented a split in the treatment line.

The treatment plant had a physical-chemical treatment, followed by a biological treatment with two biological reactors and one decanter tank. Sludges were treated with a centrifugal dehydrator.

Due to the increase in wastewater flow the plant was unable to absorb all the demand in a satisfactory way. Thus, different expansions have been realized with new equipment and line splitting. Physical-chemical treatment was improved with a bigger equipment with greater capacity; also, sludges equipment was renovated with new dehydrator.

About the biological treatment, both the biological reactors where communicated and connected to the decanter tank. The intervention made a reversible separation between them. Actually, water from one of them is clarified from biological sludges by a physical-chemical separator.

Biological sludges are collected and send back to reactor in order to maintain the plant alive. Periodically they are also purged to sludges treatment.

This system with two parallel lines allows the clarification of one or both reactors through the decanter tank or the physical-chemical treatment, presenting a great flexibility in treatment line and allowing the treatment of an increase flow of wastewater.

Expansion required of several new equipment, physical-chemical separator, centrifugal dehydrator, product preparation plants, pumps and sensors that have been integrated in the control and automatization system granting the whole plant an automatic operation.

Desperate times call for…efficient solutions

It is very common in our installations to find buried tanks. This solution allows no grow useful space and it’s aesthetically pleasant. In those cases, it is obviously necessary to perform holes in order to allow access, maintenance and aeration.

In this case in our customer plant, a factory from Valles, there is a buried deposit under an access building. Thus, the aeration holes unfortunately dispatch bad smells to the upper space.

In aim of solving this problem and improve the space habitability, an active carbon filter has been installed that forces aeration from the buried reservoir and removes, at the same time, the bad smells.

The installation consists of a tube that extracts aire from the tank and forces it throw the active carbon, sending it throw the interior flue completely clean and removing the bad smells.

Active carbon works through a chemical principle, picking all the particles present in the air; that cause not only bad smells but also pollution. With this solution air comes clean and healthy.

Problem has been resolved and there are no bad smells in the place anymore.



Innovative company award 2019


CiM Aigua has been rewarded with the more innovative company award by the Fòrum de la Catalunya Central.

This event, that is annually celebrated and where a great number of region’s executives gather, awards entrepreneurs and company’s innovation.

This year in the Forum’s 27th edition, CiM Aigua was awarded as Catalunya Central more Innovative Company 2019.

The event gathered more than a hundred businessmen and women who enjoyed the award’s delivery, a specific conference and a great dinner.

The award was collected by Àngel Noguera i Grífol, entrepreneur and general director of the company, who acknowledge though social media the teamwork behind these results.

CiM Aigua has been working in water treatment for 15 years and has always demonstrated a concern for research and development investment; in fact, they are on a development team with university and other companies to develop innovative treatments.




CIM Aigua finalizes the installation and start-up of an industrial food WWTP


CIM Aigua has completed a new project for a food industry located in Bages. In this project a treatment by flotation of 20 m3/h, its automatic dosages of chemical reagents and the expansion of the treatment of sludges by means of centrifuge have been realized.

In this project the following tasks have been carried out: from the initial study of the kind of water to its design, construction and start-up. And, from now on, its exploitation and maintenance.
